Ideas for Principle #10

💡 Laying out the clothes we'll wear tomorrow, the evening before, to save time in the morning.

Using stickers with glue already on them, instead of spreading liquid glue.

Cutting the fruit before you get to the park so it's ready to eat.

Packing a bag with clothes, a toothbrush and a game before going to sleep over at a friend's, so that when we get to our friend's house we'll have everything we need to stay over.

Are mornings always rushed and running late?!
When you have to prepare everything at the last minute, there's simply not enough time.

The way to do it is to think: what can we prepare right now, so it's ready when we actually need it?

Every minute invested in advance saves much more time and stress when the moment itself arrives.

Ready for a challenge? We've prepared some extra challenges for you to try

Look together around the house for one more thing that's already prepared in advance to save time, like the bag that's ready from the evening before, or the clothes ready for the morning.

Easy
1. Prepare one small thing together this evening for tomorrow, and check in the morning how much time it saved.
2. Ask your child: what's the thing that annoys them most when they're not prepared in advance.

A bit of a stretch
3. Choose together, at the start of the week, how much money they plan to spend and save, and check at the end of the week whether the plan worked out.
4. Check together how long a morning takes when everything is prepared in advance, compared to a morning when nothing was prepared.

Challenge for champions
5. Ask your child to design a bag, always ready in advance, for any small emergency of theirs, and detail what goes inside and why.
6. Try together to think of a whole area of life, like studying for a test, and plan how preparing in advance over time would help more than last-minute preparation.
