Ideas for Money Wisdom #21

💡 Sometimes skipping fast is the right thing to do - like running on hot sand, but sometimes the opposite is true: before making a purchase you want to make in a hurry, it's worth "skipping" forward in time and imagining how you'll feel about it tomorrow, instead of buying it right now.

For example:
You're walking around the mall with your parents and see something you want to buy right now?
You have two options:
1. Buy the thing here and now, quickly, out of excitement.
2. Wait 24 hours before deciding.

If we act like option 1, it's possible that after buying the thing we'll regret it and realize we didn't really need it, or that it's not really useful to us, but by then it's already a hassle to return it.

If we act like option 2, it's possible, and this happens a lot, that after a whole day, we'll discover we don't want it that much at all, and then we'll save ourselves the trip back to the store and all the hassle that comes with it.

The conclusion:
A short moment of waiting can save an expense we didn't really want.
