Ideas for Principle #22

💡 Using something "bad" that happened, or waste materials, to make something fun and good.

Turning junk into creative games - all the packages or boxes we wanted to throw in the trash, that turned into spaceships, cars, and works of art instead.

Putting on rain boots to jump in puddles even though it's a rainy day with no sun.

A rainy day that ruined outdoor plans - can be turned into a day of board games or movies with the family, instead of being disappointed.

Did something bad happen to you, and is it hard not to be completely disappointed?!
It's easy to stay stuck thinking about how unpleasant the situation is.

Worth thinking: how can we turn this exact bad thing into an advantage?

An opportunity is hiding in almost every unpleasant situation - you just need to look for it from a different angle.

Now it's your turn to invent. Take something that went wrong today, and invent together a new game or creation that's born exactly from it.

Easy
1. If something spilled by accident today, look together to see if it looks like a drawing or a funny shape.
2. Ask your child what the most annoying thing that happened to him this week was, and how it can be turned into a funny story.

A bit of a stretch
3. Choose a cardboard box or empty package at home together, and turn it into something new - a spaceship or a house for a toy.
4. Using a financial mistake that happened, check together what it taught you and what you'll do differently next time.

Challenge for champions
5. Ask your child to invent a new product or game that's born entirely out of a mishap, just like a paint stain that became a drawing.
6. Try thinking together about a bad day that happened, and plan how to turn it into a better day without changing what happened, only the angle from which you look at it.
