Ideas for Money Wisdom #30

💡 A flexible plastic bag adapts itself to the shape of the sandwich inside it, not the other way around.

A good budget works the same way - it "wraps around" our life, instead of being a rigid box that doesn't move.

For example:
If you decide to spend exactly 20 shekels a week on candy, but one week you aren't hungry for candy at all - there's no reason to "force" yourself to spend the 20 shekels on candy just because that's what you decided. Leave the money in your box and use it when you actually feel the need.

Let your budget shrink and stretch based on the actual need you have at any given moment, as long as you have guidelines that help you avoid doing anything silly.

A flexible budget protects our savings better than a rigid budget that breaks easily.
