Ideas for Principle #34

💡 Bath bomb - dissolves and disappears in the water while it fizzes, after it has finished its job.

Snowman - you make him in winter, and he melts and disappears on his own when the sun warms up, without anyone needing to take him apart.

Banana peel - protects the fruit until you eat it, and then you throw it away because it has done its job.

Do you have lots of old things sitting around the house with no use at all?!
Things that have already done their job just take up space and clutter things up.

Worth thinking about: what has finished its job, and it's okay to let it go, to make room for new things?

When you let go of things you no longer need, it frees up space - both physical space and mental space - for new things that do matter to you.

Ready for a challenge? We've prepared some extra challenges for you to try

Now it's your turn to invent. Design your own little farewell ceremony for a toy or piece of clothing that has finished its job.

Easy
1. Find one thing together in the house that has finished its job and can already be let go of.
2. Ask your child if there's a buying habit that used to suit them and no longer does.

A bit of a stretch
3. Choose together a subscription or fixed expense you don't really use anymore, and check how much money that frees up.
4. Go through a closet or toy box together, and mark together what has finished its job.

Challenge for champions
5. Ask your child to plan how to recycle or pass along something they're letting go of, instead of just throwing it away.
6. Try together to think of a habit that no longer serves you, and plan how to let it go without feeling bad.
