Any problem can be solved by adding a new dimension that we didn't think of before.
When we try to solve a problem, no matter what area it's in, we need to develop our thinking and try to find creative solutions. Sometimes the places we didn't think of are exactly where we'll find the solution to the problem, or another solution to it.
If we remember that every problem can have many solutions, and remember that we can change the "dimension" and find more solutions, we'll always be able to find creative solutions to our problem.
Ready for a challenge? We've prepared some extra challenges for you to tryNow it's your turn to invent. Design an object or a corner in the room that makes use of a dimension you haven't thought about until now - height, depth, or time.
Easy1. Build a tall tower of blocks together, and check how much less floor space it takes up compared to if all the blocks were spread out.
2. Ask your child which other direction in their room they haven't used at all - up, down, or sideways.
A bit of a stretch3. Imagine together today's savings also a year from now, and check how that changes the decision whether to buy now or wait.
4. Check together how many more books or toys fit on a shelf that makes use of the wall going upward, compared to a box on the floor.
Challenge for champions5. Ask your child to design a room or a bag that uses three dimensions at once - height, depth, and time.
6. Try thinking together about a problem you got stuck on, and ask whether adding the dimension of time, height, or depth would have solved it.
