Ideas for Money Wisdom #17
💡 Just like a small room can "grow" if you also think about a top shelf and not only the floor, our savings can also "grow" if we think about it not only today but also in the dimension of time - what will happen in a month, in a year.
For example:
₪5 saved today is almost nothing. But if you think about that same ₪5 also in the "dimension of time" - every day, for a whole year - it turns into a much bigger amount.
When you look at money also in the dimension of time, and not only at this moment, you see a much bigger picture.
Can we think about money in other "dimensions" too?
Future versus present - now versus later
• Using money for immediate, enjoyable satisfaction day to day, here and now.
• Delaying gratification and investing the money so it creates more value in the future encourages our future saving and growth.
• Using money to pay others to do things in our place helps us gain free time to do things we love.
The dimension of feelings and awareness
• The feeling that money provides a safety net against problems and bad surprises can create for us a sense of security and peace of mind.
• The ability to decide what to do with our money and how to use it gives us freedom and choice.
• Sometimes we also have a fear of losing money, or a feeling that there isn't enough money, and these feelings can also affect our mental health if we let them.
• When we understand that money is "energy" that we attract, and that it's a tool we use and not something good or bad in itself, it's easier for us to use it without guilt or anxiety, and in a way that lets us enjoy it.
The dimension of value and social impact
• Some people use money as a measure of success, influence, and status in the eyes of others.
• You can use money to help others, build projects, or create positive change in the world.
• Money lets us buy experiences that help us understand who we are and what we love doing in life (classes, trips, museums, snacks, games).
